Hey Squad, If you are following me on instagram you have been enjoying the wonderful dinners we have been having as part of this month’s Whole30 challenge. When it comes to actually making the meals, that is handled by my wonderful husband.  He gets things started as I am commuting home and so we are not eating at 9pm. We decided to start this because we got a little too comfortable with the idea of “eating out healthy”  Its really not a thing am I right? Once you are in a restaurant, suddenly the appetizers sound good so you order one or two, you says yes to a cocktail and then the healthy meal choice is further put at risk when you say “sure, I will [&hellip

Hey Squad, 2017 is underway and so far its off to a great start here at phyllis4fitness. Today, I launched phyllis4fitness on Facebook. I was at the point of giving up Facebook all together since there has been so much negative postings showing up on my feed. I decided to be that beacon of happy, positive thoughts and education to enable my whole squad to be their best selves. There will be alot more information and lots of laughs on that page for sure. Here is a ease into the new year workout for you to keep the engines running and warm you up this week. Monday, Wed, Friday. 20 jumping jacks 20 squats 20 secs marching in place ( extra credit if this reminds [&hellip

Hey Squad, Now that I have some book learning  behind me, I feel confident to send out some workout routines to keep us all moving.  This is just enough to feel it and not take a lot of time out of your busy holiday season . I sent this to my pilates group @ work.  We have class once a week to stretch out those muscles after sitting all day long. #12days Cheerfully yours, Coach Phyllis

As I commuted thru backpack searches and bomb sniffing dogs today I thought of this quote. I am going to try to keep this in mind as I move thru my days. The world would be a better place if everyone did the same don’t you think. Who knew that the Apple update could bring such Zen? Has anyone else discovered the Breathe app on the Apple Watch? Every five hours it buzzes to remind me to focus on my breathe for one solid minute. Focus on the positive squad! Cheerfully yours, Phyllis4fitness

Hey Squad, I was afraid to even post about my upcoming race last weekend.  I worried Mother Nature would have another trick up her sleeve just like in VA Beach.  As it turned out the race went off without a hitch. This is my second time running Philadelphia and I still say it is the best first marathon course ever.  I was fortunate to have to first timers with me and they were so inspiring! You can explain the experience to someone in very clear detail, but until they actually do it, its a mystery.  I did my best to coach them thru training and on race day. They ROCKED it.  I was/am so proud. Personally, I am rehab-ing a pulled hamstring and so happy [&hellip

Hey Squad, The race I had planned to run tomorrow will be going on as planned but not with me.  As we tried to get from CT to Va Beach, the prediction of bad weather made us re think the plan.  When the VA governor declared a state of emergency for the upcoming storm, we turned around. Disappointed? yes, a little because I was looking forward to a fun rock and roll event.  I am very pleased that they offered refunds so I can apply it to next year.  The hotel was also great and refunded our deposit.  Thanks Hilton Garden Inn- Oceanfront We stopped in Ocean City, MD on the way home and it was like a ghost town. Everyone was batting down the [&hellip

Hey Squad, I have not forgotten about you over the last several months, but my blog fell out of the top ten things I need to pay attention to.  Its been so busy with 90% amazing events like my daughter Laura’s wedding, family vacations and re connecting with old friends. 10% has been challenging, events like a concussion and post concussion syndrome, losing a dear young man and my personal summer (aka menopause). But thru it all, running kept me sane.  I love all kinds of exercise but running is like home to me.  So if you are up to it, I will be taking you along the ride as I return to Fall race season. First up – Rock and Roll VA Beach.  Or [&hellip

Hey squad, Sometimes I just don’t know what to do with all the to-dos! Like listening to podcasts, I am a little late to the regular practice of meditation. Luckily there is an app for that. It does help slow the chaos down a bit so that I can re prioritize. I plan on getting it all sorted for the week and knocking that list into just a few notes. So, if you happen to ride metro north and hear someone taking really deep breathes, it me. I promise not to break into “ohm”s. Cheerfully yours, Phyllis4fitness

Hey Squad, I have been intrigued by the rise of ath-lesiure clothing lines lately.  I am not sure who these folks are that can wear an outfit to yoga and then to brunch.  I am a sweaty mess five minutes in. However, if anyone can make a sport bra that holds me close, hides my headlights, and doesn’t take a magic act to take off, I am a big fan. This article today really spoke to my whole approach on fashion. I do like to dress nice for work and on a bit of a trend.  I am not one to invest in one or two good pieces strategy.  I like to hit the look alike pieces at a Ann Taylor or H&M. I always will [&hellip

Hey Squad, As we are all aware ( well maybe not everyone) the lottery for the TCS NYC 2016 marathon closes on Friday. I have been thinking a lot about my marathon experience and have come up with this very deep observation on life based on the experience. Everything I need to know in life I learned from running a marathon Preparation is everything. No bullshitting your readiness with out consequences i.e injuries and hours of PT Running is better with a group, but ultimately its you and the road Showing up is more than half the battle, your heart will lead you to the best outcome If you don’t love what you are doing you will never be great at it You are the star [&hellip
